3D Animation: Box Animation Update #2 (Sad Ending)

Image
Very unfortunate news. After waiting for hours for my render to finish, after about 268 of my 430 frames, Maya crashed and I lost all of my work. I had big plans of editing and making a clean, full animation; and now I am really bummed I can't do that anymore. I guess you win some and you lose some.

3D Animation: Box Animation Update #1

I have been extremely locked into the grind creating this animation. I was so locked in that I forgot I was supposed to be blogging about it. I just finished the actual character animation, now I have to render it and send it through post. I ran into a hiccup where I couldn't get the forward bend to work and then some-how forward bent the entire animation so I spent like 3 hours fixing that mistake without ruining my project. Somehow I did it though. I will make another blog when I am completely finished. It is also very late at night because I did some work Saturday, and then worked at my job all day Sunday. I definitely wish I spent more time on Saturday on this so I wouldn't have as much to do right now. I also went a little too extreme on the animation, but go big or go home. Peace, -Chris

Digital Media: Calligram Project

Dear Chris in 20 years,   I hope you are still alive and well. From a standpoint 20 years in your past you had many ambitious goals and dreams, and I hope after 20 years you have begun accomplishing those. Right now I’m still in school working towards a degree and honing to develop the skills necessary to find a place in the entertainment industry. If everything goes right and I theoretically went down the exact path I hope to take, then the 20 year-older version of me reading this would hopefully be living in a nice house on a beach somewhere while actively working on some type of film/movie or piece of media. I would hope at some point during your time in college you managed to secure a nice internship related to animation or film and by graduation you were able to use that, and your degree to get a decently paying job. At least enough to cover the cost of living and keep yourself afloat. With time that job spirals as you work your way up in the ranks and take up more re...

3D Animation Class Blog Entry #1

Hello, this is my first entry for our 3D animation class and so far the class has been pretty solid. We have only met in class once so far so we haven't accomplished much in a class setting, but outside of class we have created 2 animations. Even though the animations are very simple I have always been eager to learn how to render 3D animations so this is pretty exciting stuff and I'm proud of what I have accomplished so far. The process itself was challenging and took a while to learn, but I have a lot of experience dealing with 2D animation so the hassle of keyframes and stuff wasn't anything new. Honestly the biggest obstacle I've faced so far is just turning in my projects because the dropbox has been difficult. I know we were only expected to turn in the playblast, but I was very curious what the animation looked like rendered so I taught myself and I'm glad I did because of how the results turned out. It is also very cool how we are learning to rig our own mo...
